Served very hot with chunks of bread & Cheesy Muffins.
It’s a long time since I posted on my blog – I’m a very bad blogger! I will try much harder in future ….. honestly, I will. Anyway, for now a little insight into the places we go or find on our little trips out.
Today is officially the first day of Spring. The weather has been beautiful and we’ve been able to sit in the garden in the sunshine. I seem to have neglected my posting this past week but with the terrible news from around the world there didn’t seem to be anything nice to write about. Japan has suffered earthquakes and a Tsunami which has killed thousands of people and if that wasn’t bad enough, their Nuclear Reactors have been, still are, on the point of meltdown. The scenes from Japan are heart breaking. We are also involved in the beginnings of
a war with Libya. There just seems to been no good news from anywhere so the sunshine today was most welcome.
Even Bluebell found herself a sunny spot to enjoyed the sunshine.
Waking up after the long winter.
…. and our first crocuses of the year opened on the first day of Spring.

Part of our journey on our day out to the mountains took us through one of the prettiest villages in the region. It’s strange to drive out of the forest and into the village with all the brightly painted wood clad houses. I love the way the houses are painted – it’s bright and cheerful and lifts the spirit on grey winter days.
It looks even prettier in the summer when the owners fill the balcony flower boxes with masses of bright flowers. Here’s just a few of my favourites – hope you enjoy them.
That’s a few of my favourites – maybe if I win the lottery.
Hope you enjoyed them, too. x
No day out would be complete for us if we didn’t find a cafe or two – in fact a day out without a cafe would be considered disastrous. I think we’re probably a bit obsessed by them, in fact I think we’re positively crazy when it comes to cafes. It doesn’t even matter what sort of place it is but I suppose our most favourite of all are the little backstreet cafes where the ‘ordinary’ folk go for a chat as much as for refreshments. From a souk in Abu Dhabi to a transport cafe just off the M6 we feel ‘at home’ in cafes.
Anyway, we came across the quaintest of places on our day out, it’s a bit difficult to explain it but you’ll get the idea from the photos.
Seating is in little shed things. Or standing with the scarecrow. Even the fence has a sense of humour with all the posts having different expressions.
It didn’t matter which way you looked there was something ‘different’ to catch the eye – all in all a very interesting cafe.
…. and the coffee was good, too.
